Part of my CSM 3rd year disseration project I was looking at proto animation (really early basic animation) in contemporary design. I've taken a lot of influence from other contemporary designers who are using these techniques to explore the way we look at animation and how its made. As stated on my channel I have interviewed animators such as Jim le Fevre and in my research referenced other people using this technique such as David Wilson and Tim Wheatley who did this before me. I developed this project based on what is being done in animation right now as well as a lot of primary research into the history of animation techniques.View From A therethis is amazing! shot high above the streets of new york city, ‘Up There’ is a short film directed by malcolm murray and conceptulised by mother NY. the film reveals the dying craft of large-scale hand painted advertising and the untold story of the painters trying to keep it alive. capturing a trade that is equal parts artistic tradition and gruelling labour, the film presents a painting tradition pre-dating modern advertising. a craft that today finds itself dangling precariously on the brink of extinction.

<param In these environmentally-conscious times the cast mineral marble washbasin Abisko brings us back to nature. Inspired by the unspoilt waterfalls of the Swedish National Park Abisko, the sink is unfettered by pipes. Nor does it allow water to accumulate in a big tub, something designers Johan Kauppi and Lars Sundström deem unnecessary. Rather, one should be aware of just how much water one is using, and catch it with careful consideration. An extraordinary, sculptural piece, the Abisko washbasin captures the freshness of mountain streams as water cascades down the length of the sink to slip away down a discreet floor-level grill. Living with an awareness of our limited resources, surrounded by cherished objects… these are the keys to happiness offered by the Abisko Washbasin from Eumar.View From A Farmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07534513778000272999noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-985973060230361323.post-28927823850376046972009-10-22T14:41:00.002-05:002009-10-22T14:50:20.847-05:00Paper Sculptures by Jen Stark<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkJcjtQmv8p2gThVX3d2g7j5iy-Fw3Dcb3Z5hyphenhypheniaulJZ-MhDSqKuGpX1VbAHXdC6ccUF5jZyWrjdqTDJ6MuVmWKehh2u3GCrXgfXbWn46wODlecl7GGcmW71HpOCyJyzCL44rMjNfKMNI/s400/paper_5.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5395514053186067778" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLcYkDBsqROG8SEbOraUvRcnmYHShFA-l84c-cS__yXUogtFXyK_-JCaW7VH4lmHjbGng9oNb3wZpRkkLPHZiNkHPiUDeZ94S0ajubheDwZ7Ln02XWbtdP9zOAMBDDcStO5v-bOP7Tff0/s400/paper_4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5395514053833767458" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 341px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmSlyDGMDuY7Sqqoz_yqG-RYogds9hX1-OQ-9wsv9MJaUOPIkI5jHET8E4gPQ3VbgDyBbnRK9fkQAO8f4hwFHUZe1lWp_YMI-7k7P2CRar2ZJYyDSZ_sRuD9JOIh6c-DCiBGqfRwnksiw/s400/paper_3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5395514046218848546" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 340px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN8k39wEJHKxibqDJ9T94cSx8Ci4wiOB1vng6ZciEONxyh1MXrzkZH5VjCKHOhpaNQTL4DAWwPZvOpZivaqUYPU1CMt30BGRgiREVo94YbPqa6FmdpjAoxmozPaAM-BIbqKhPVgRmSaB4/s400/paper_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5395514042730194690" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 218px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqkUfHoMgQjZJ9LLqZGVpUghFlX7gg13p4F7LZy2z5mNKhGCbw2C_1FeeuDlaZcabF2v5x4LWWu3Epz7YVQwEN8F9SD7d_oeXD3fOSezFkwXP6j7u3UPq1hSjfof_RHQAeTDuN7CVLQjc/s400/paper_1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5395514038072275794" />
These explosions of color are paper sculptures by the extremely talented Jen Stark. Since graduating in 2005, Stark has exhibited around the United States as well as in the UK and France. Both her sculptures and illustrations are extremely vibrant, and while her drawings seem to be abstract in nature, Stark’s paper sculptures are structured and geometric.

The layers of colored paper draw one’s eye gradually into the center of the sculpture making each individual sculpture like portals into different psychedelic dimensions.

To see more of Jen Stark’s paper sculptures, go to the artist’s website: jenstark.comView From A Farmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07534513778000272999noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-985973060230361323.post-23344785279226841752009-10-21T18:56:00.002-05:002009-10-21T19:01:38.041-05:00design it: shelter competiition<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 296px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvZfxGYFGB6nBg2dOaeHxaRYasSGN1021QvNza1A1_S91KiGrYbi6PN-ePeiGZQTThklyFUVfWFX3dzNg2OwHf-uj0-j4W1-HYeQKATfIu1GhiZrenJ1D-wHcDu8RzCg2O5DTkdNb4q9g/s400/Picture_12.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5395207726280917682" />
Over the course of the summer, Design It: Shelter Competition received submissions from people in 68 countries for a total of nearly 600 entries that met competition requirements. On the occasion of the Guggenheim Museum's 50th Anniversary, we are pleased to announce the two winning entries: David Mares's CBS – Cork Block Shelter, which won the People's Prize after receiving 64,875 votes out of more than 100,000 votes submitted online by voters around the world; and David Eltang's SeaShelter, which was selected by a jury of architecture and design experts for the Juried Prize. Prizes include airfare and two nights accommodation for two in New York City, behind-the-scenes tours of the Guggenheim Museum and Google offices, and Google SketchUp Pro licenses.
